In case you are unaware of what Apex is i'll let you know a little more information about it. Apex is a world wide Super Smash Bros tournament with competitors from around the world. With Apex now being the largest Super Smash Bros tournament in history with over 900 entrants spanning from the Super Smash Bros franchise.( Super Smash Bros, Super Smash Bros Melee, Super Smash Bros Brawl, and Super Smash Bros Wii U)

This comes as a big shock that Nintendo is sponsoring Apex because during last years tournament Nintendo announced that they do not want Super Smash Bros streamed online for thousands of viewers to watch. Nintendo wanted Twitch and other streaming sites to not live stream the tournament. They were various speculations as to why Nintendo wanted to do this, ranging from not being paid to let Twitch stream there game, and Nintendo seems to dislike the uploading and sharing of their games. Nintendo finally caved after an outcry from the smash community and Nintendo lifted this action from happening.
With all those reasons why and some other random rumors Nintendo officially announces that they will be sponsoring the tournament.This means that with more sponsors and Nintendo go ahead from them to be stream means more attention and a valid scene in the competitive gaming.
